We decided on the name Daylon Richard Haverlah for our second little boy. We got the name Daylon from Clay's late Uncle who passed away about a year ago from cancer. Richard is of course Clay's Dad's name and was my Opa's name on my Dad's side.
I was pretty proud of myself and my nesting. I set up all of our Christmas decorations prior to Thanksgiving and made a couple of batches of Christmas cookies to freeze so all I had to do was ice them. Daylon's nursery was pretty much done except for his name above his crib, but the letters had been ordered. I debated about using Marshall's John Deere bedding, but since Marshall's room is still John Deere, I thought that was too much yellow and green in my house. Luckily, Amy's sister-in-law was selling her son's bedding and decorations. The bedding was coincidentally made by the same lady who made Marshall's bedding.
My Doctor asked me if I wanted a schedule induction like I had for Marshall, I said of course. I liked the idea of having everything planned especially since we had to figure out what to do with Marshall. We scheduled it for November 30th, 3 days early then his actual due date. The beginning of the labor and delivery was pretty much just like Marshall. It was the pushing and recovery that was totally different. For Marshall, I pushed for 2 good hours, and for Daylon it was 20 minutes and he was out. I also recovered much faster this time (apparently Marshall caved the way). Daylon Richard Haverlah was born at 3:35 weighing 8 lbs with a height of 20.5 inches. My first thought when we saw Daylon is that he looks nothing like Marshall. It also took him awhile to figure out how to cry. It was pretty cute the noises he was trying to make, but he got it going. Here is the day of delivery.

Daylon ready to go home

The hospital stay was a little disappointing for Clay and I. We really appreciated it with Marshall, but this time there was an overflow in the new Atrium part, so we got stuck in the older and smaller nursery wing. We actually thought about leaving after one day since I was recovering so much faster and there was not that much help from the nursing staff this time, but Daylon was struggling with nursing, so we wanted to make sure he got it down before we checked out. Marshall was great at nursing. There was no work in it for me. However, Daylon was a little more stubborn and did not want to work for it. We went home at noon on December 2nd. Marshall was at my parents house, so it gave us a moment to settle in and unpack.
Here is Marshall when he came home to see his little brother.

So, I thought Daylon did not look like his older brother, but it took about a day for him to look exactly like him.

The first event Daylon went to was Kylene's 4th Birthday party. It was at Inflatable Wonderland (favorite place) and he slept through the whole thing.
Our second major outing was getting pictures done for our Christmas cards/birth announcements/moving announcement. We just went to Picture Innovations at the Forum and kept it sweet and simple.

I got all these 3 month Christmas outfits, but they were all huge on Daylon.
He was still on the small side and was in newborn clothing. He just preferred sleeping over eating.
No complaints here, but the Dr. did not like it. |

It was very impressive because he pointed out all of the truck parts. It is sad when your 3 year old knows more then you. |
Marshall loves to make gates, cages and bridges with anything he can find. Here he is making a big gate with his toy drawers.
Let it Snow......in San Antonio. If you live in San Antonio, you know how it is the biggest deal when there is a slight chance of snow. The weather man got our hopes up, but in the end there were some snow flurries after frozen rain. It was enough for Marshall to get to play with it when he woke up.
Daylon has been such a good baby so far. The only downfall is that he spits up, so I always have to have a burp rag in hand. He was born as an excellent sleeper and was so easy to get on a schedule because I would always have to wake him up to feed him. Because he loved sleeping so much, he was struggling gaining weight at the beginning. Since it was my second and Marshall has always been on the thin side, I was not too worried about it. I did have to wake him up after six hours at night for the first month. Once I stopped waking him up, he pretty much slept through the night and does not make a peep the whole night. Now he is sleeping from about 8:30-9:00 to 7:00-7:30. Like his brother, he has to be swaddled tightly to sleep. It looks so uncomfortable to us, but it makes all the difference in the world for him to take some long naps. He is also a pretty relaxed baby that will go with the flow. The only problem is that when he is out and about he just wants to look around and see everything, so he only takes little cat naps when he is not in his bed, but he wakes up with a smile. He is starting to coo and it just melts my heart. Here are some pictures of him growing up. He has changed so much in the past months.
